D Family – Liam is 1! {New Bern Family Photography}

It’s very rare I have to reschedule a session after it has already started, but eastern North Carolina’s weather likes to remind me from time to time that I have no control over it. About 15 minutes into the D Family’s New Bern photo session that was already rescheduled once due to rain, the thunder rolled in and lightning flashed only moments after my camera did for this shot:

That was it, we all packed up and agreed to reschedule!

A few days later, we met again at Creekside Park for take 2 of our photo session for Liam’s first birthday. This time the finicky summer weather stayed dry, and we finished the photo session. And check out how fabulous the session turned out!

Look who is one year old!

I love sweet sibling love. Having three younger siblings myself, I know they can drive you crazy but they are also the best friends you will ever have.

So after TWO photo sessions, I guess it’s understandable that these kids finally said ‘enough is enough!’. 🙂 Yeah, that’s the look.

Rowen ~ 4 days new {New Bern Newborn Photographer}

I love working with our military families in Eastern North Carolina, and we have quite a few of them with the Marine bases of Camp Lejeune, MCAS New River and MCAS Cherry Point all in our area. And I just adored the patriotism I found in little Rowen’s family when I showed up to their home for a New Bern newborn photo session. The one prop they asked me to absolutely make sure I used during the session was this American flag dad had carried with him during a deployment to Iraq.

Rowen’s nursery theme is based on Where the Wild Things Are, and can’t you just see this photo hanging in his nursery?

This little boy just slept soundly through almost his entire newborn session, perhaps dreaming of all the wild things he’ll do one day. 🙂

Did I mention mom and dad are Michigan State fans?

Keep on with those sweet dreams, little Rowen, and welcome to the world!

Scarlett – 5 Days New {New Bern Newborn Photographer}

I first met Scarlett’s mom and dad when I photographed mom in all her pregnant glory for her maternity session. We met in downtown New Bern for that, and it was a lovely afternoon. Mom warned me then that Scarlett would arrive before her due date, and mom was right! How many times have I told my own daughter that – mom is always right! 🙂

I was delighted when I got to meet the family again, this time a family of three. I headed to their home in New Bern for a newborn photography session. It fell on Scarlett’s fifth day of life, my absolute favorite day to photograph a newborn. There is something magical about day number five. I don’t know what it is, but I know I always have great newborn sessions with five-day-old babies!

So without further ado, meet Scarlett!

Ava – 12 Days New {Jacksonville Newborn Photographer}

Little baby Ava was beautiful from day one when her momma sent me a picture of her from the hospital to let me know Ava had arrived. And she was still just as precious when I finally got her in front of my camera 12 days later.

For already being the ripe old age of 12 days, Ava was a great sleeper. What? You didn’t know 12 days was old? 🙂 Ok, so that’s probably only the case in newborn photography. I usually prefer to photograph babies when they’re between 5 and 10 days, before they’re sleep patterns start to change. But Ava didn’t let on that she was older than that and slept soundly for most of her newborn photography session. What a dream!

Mom-to-be Andrea {New Bern Maternity Photographer}

Andrea and her husband are expecting their first baby very soon, and we wanted to catch this glowing mom-to-be in all her radiance before the little one arrived. So we met up in downtown New Bern for a beautiful maternity session in the colonial capital of North Carolina.

New Bern Maternity PhotographyI love all the brick backdrops you can find in our quaint little town. They make for perfect photo session settings. And it’s also on the water, where the Neuse and Trent Rivers meet, just adding to the charm for this maternity photography session.

This little one will be here before we know it! Congratulations to the happy parents-to-be.
